Book Week 2024

This year’s Book Week in the Redeemer Junior School was a spectacular success, filled with fun, learning, and literary magic! Our students immersed themselves in the joy of reading through a series of engaging activities and special events.

The week kicked off with a vibrant visit from Books to Life, where students enjoyed interactive storytelling sessions that brought their favorite characters to life. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they participated in the dynamic performances and engaged with the stories in new and exciting ways.

The Scholastic Book Fair was another highlight, with students and parents alike exploring the wide range of books on offer. From gripping novels to colorful picture books, the fair was a hit, inspiring many to add new favorites to their reading lists.

Our Library Scavenger Hunt provided an adventurous twist, challenging students to solve clues and discover hidden treasures throughout the library.

Adding a touch of magic to the week was the visit from Magic Pete. His enchanting tricks and spellbinding performance captivated the students, who were spellbound by his illusions and magic-themed stories.

We are also thrilled to celebrate the winners of the Premier’s Reading Challenge, who demonstrated remarkable dedication and enthusiasm for reading. Congratulations to all who participated and completed the challenge—your commitment is truly commendable!

A special shoutout to the winners of our Bookmark and Door Decorating Competitions. The creativity and effort displayed were outstanding, and we were amazed by the vibrant and imaginative designs that decorated our school.

Book Week was a memorable and inspiring event for everyone involved. A big thank you to all who contributed to making it a success and to our wonderful students for their enthusiasm and participation. Here’s to many more exciting reading adventures ahead!

Our Junior School Resource Centre ran an array of exciting activities across the week for the students to engage with!

On Friday 2 August, our Junior School paraded through the Multi-Purpose Centre in their Book Week costumes!

Senior School Costumes

Week 4 was a collaboration of Book Week and English Week in Redeemer's Senior School!

The theme “Reading is Magic” set the stage for a week filled with imaginative activities, engaging displays, creative costumes, and interactive competitions, creating a truly memorable experience for students and staff alike. Our focus on the magical world of Harry Potter added an extra layer of excitement and charm to the festivities.

The Senior Resource Centre was beautifully decorated with Hogwarts banners, floating candles, magical artifacts, and a Honeydukes sweetshop, transporting everyone straight to the world of wizardry. Students and staff embraced the theme with enthusiasm, donning costumes from their favourite Harry Potter characters. From Gryffindor robes to Slytherin scarves, the spirit of Hogwarts was truly alive.

We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who made this week such a success – our dedicated library staff and English teachers, enthusiastic students, and the College Captains who contributed their time and creativity. As we reflect on this magical week, we look forward to continuing our journey through the world of books and discovering new adventures together. Here’s to keeping the magic of reading alive every day!

Junior School Door Competition

Across Book Week, our Junior School looked especially colourful, as each class decorated their door for the Door Competition!

It was such a difficult choice for the winners, because there were so many amazing entries!

Books & Blankets

As part of our Book Week and English Week activities this week, our Year 12 students enjoyed a sunny day reading stories to our Prep and Year 1 students! It's wonderful to see the little ones engage with books and develop a love for literature with the help of their older peers.

Magic Pete Show

On Wednesday 31 July, as part of our week-long Book Week celebration, students in Prep -Year 3 were treated to an extraordinary show by the renowned Magician, Magic Pete! He captivated our students with a spellbinding tricks and balloon creations all thoughtfully inspired by beloved children’s books. Students had the opportunity to participate in interactive segments, where they became part of the magic themselves. Magic Pete performed illusions that tied back to classic tales and contemporary favorites, sparking their imaginations and reinforcing the joy of reading.

Fairy Tale Spelling Bee

Our Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 students had a magical time at our optional, fairy tale-themed spelling bee!

They embraced the challenge of new words and enjoyed every moment. Every participant received a certificate for their lunchtime fun! Well done to the brave and enthusiastic students who joined in!
