Redeemer Grade 8 and 9 Business and Economics students put their entrepreneurial skills to the test with their much-anticipated Market Stalls at this year’s Redeemer Festival. From idea conception to business planning and production, students embraced the challenge of building and running a small business. Their hard work not only brought about impressive sales but also raised funds for a wonderful cause!
After carefully writing business plans, each group set out to make their products, market their businesses, and sell with enthusiasm. In just under two hours, these young business owners collectively generated $1,216.85 in total sales. After covering their initial investments of $610 (which was generously financed by the Humanities Department), they proudly presented a profit of $606.85 to Helping Hands. This is a remarkable accomplishment in such a short span and a testament to the effort these students put in.
Some additional insights from the day:
- Profits all around: 13 out of the 16 groups turned a profit, showing not only creativity but also an eye for the market and cost-effective product development.
- Record-breaking ROI: One group achieved an incredible 697% return on investment with sales totaling $147.50 on a minimal budget of $18.50.
- Sellout success: Every stall sold out, with the one stall drawing such a crowd that they had to set a cap on customers!
It was inspiring to see our students take on this project with such enthusiasm and end the day with real-world lessons in teamwork, finance, and giving back to our community.
Congratulations to our young entrepreneurs on this successful venture and for their meaningful contribution to Helping Hands!
