Creative Arts Week 2024

During Term 3, our Senior School celebrated Creative Arts Week with a number of exciting activities!

British educator Sir Ken Robinson famously asserted that "creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status." This profound insight has inspired us to prioritize creativity in our educational endeavors. During Term 3, we were thrilled to introduce Creative Arts Week, an exciting initiative spearheaded by our Creative Arts Captain, Lilly Wu. The week was filled with a variety of engaging activities that not only entertained but also encouraged students to explore and express their creativity.

Kicking off the week, we hosted a vibrant dance party on the Chapel Green, where students and staff came together to revel in the joy of music and movement. The infectious energy was heightened by the uplifting performances from talented vocalists Amali Kordis and Lilly Wu, making it a memorable start to our celebrations.

Tuesday: Short Film Festival
We invited everyone to our very own Short Film Festival, held in the Innovation Hub. With free popcorn provided, attendees enjoyed a fantastic selection of short films created by our students, alongside some major cinematic releases. This event showcased the budding talents of our filmmakers while fostering a love for storytelling through visual media.

Wednesday: Pavement Art Competition
Our talented visual artists transformed the pavements into stunning displays of creativity. The competition was fierce, with students showcasing exceptional designs that captivated both their peers and the judges.

Thursday: Theatre Sport Competition
For this special event, we turned the expansive foyer of the Innovation Hub into a dynamic theatre-in-the-round. The atmosphere was electric as the student audience cheered on their classmates, while our guest judge, Mr Anthony Jeffes, was thoroughly entertained and impressed by the incredible improvisation skills on display.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Creative Arts staff for their enthusiastic support throughout the week, and to every student who participated and embraced the spirit of creativity. Your energy and passion made this initiative a resounding success!
