Student Reflections:

Eliza Gyetvay and Trisha Arora (Year 7)
At the Interschool Day of Excellence, we had the chance to choose from a range of workshops, from Gothic tales to economic creation. We selected a workshop focused on greenscreen technology and filmmaking, where we created a video to promote our school's Innovation Hub. Using Clipchamp, a free Microsoft app, we filmed ourselves discussing the Innovation Hub against a greenscreen backdrop. We incorporated images, text, and transitions to enhance the video. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Anna Yu (Year 7)
During the Day of Excellence, I attended the "Creative Writing: Alternate History" workshop. We explored the speculative fiction genre, considering historical events with a twist. While I wanted to write about a fictional scenario involving the Cultural Revolution in China, I ended up crafting a story about a 13-year-old Russian boy named Mishka and his friend Malenkov, who plotted to overthrow Hitler during his control of Russia. I had a great time and hope to participate again next year!

Iris Lau and Christine Lin (Year 9)
On October 15th, we took part in the Day of Excellence at Iona College, where we envisioned and designed innovative infrastructure and transportation solutions for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. Our project involved creating a Lego-based machine to assist the elderly or disabled.

I particularly enjoyed the coding aspect and appreciated the chance to meet new people, which inspired me to be more social. I'm grateful to Mrs. Johansen for making this experience possible. – Christine
I loved building and experimenting with the Lego prime kit, testing its various abilities and sensors. Interacting with new friends also expanded my social circle. I’m thankful to everyone who organized this fabulous day of learning and exploration. – Iris
