At the start of the year before school resumed, we had some of our Redeemer sporting students participate in the Futsal National Club Championships, held on the Gold Coast. There were a number of teams from all over Australia making it a very high level competition after a number of disruptions to sporting competitions in 2021.
Ella and Kiara White’s U14 team played extremely well, making it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they were knocked out in this round in a very tough game with the team that beat them going on to win the grand final. Ella and Kiara played extremely well over this tournament and, as a result, received a letter from Australian Futsal Association informing them they had both been selected in the Australian U15 Girls team which will compete in the Costa Blanca Cup in Spain in June/July!
Ansh Sharma also participated in the National Club Futsal Championships with his team finishing up runners up after a very close final match! Ansh's performance during this tournament resulted in his selection in the Australian U14 Boys team to tour the UK later this year.
Ella, Kiara and Ansh are all members of our Select Football specialist program, and on behalf of the College, I congratulate all three students on their fantastic sporting achievements!
