On Friday 16 February, our Senior School students made the short bus trip to the Brisbane Aquatic Centre at Chandler for our annual Interhouse Swimming Carnival.
The students quickly hit the water in strong numbers, competing in age groups for individual and relay swimming events and chasing House Points in addition to valuable event points for Age Champion. The atmosphere and House Spirit in the grandstands set new standards, with students embracing the theme of “Aquarium”, as chosen by our Year 12 student leaders.
We had high student nominations and participation in the swim events and even had enough time to complete a free swim for students before we departed back to the College, leaving us with a very happy group of students!
This event wouldn’t be possible without our staff filling race, supervision and motivational roles supporting our students. A particular thankyou to our Heads of House, Mr Anderson, Mr Healy, Mr Jeffes and Mrs Johansen and their respective House Captains for organising student nominations and gently encouraging any nervous swimmers to do their best, along with leading the House Spirit theme! The winners of the Overall Carnival points and House Spirit, and the Boys and Girls Age Champions will be announced in the near future at a Senior School Assembly.
