Yes. Redeemer simply asks that if you are seeking a Lutheran education for your child, that you undertake to support willingly and freely the Lutheran ethos, Christian education, values and other stated purposes of the College. It is an expectation that all students attend regular devotional Christian worship through its Chapels, class devotions and Assemblies. Attendance by all students at the College for devotional Christian worship activities is compulsory. While a student’s participation in the actions of worship is voluntary, we expect all students to attend those activities with respect and courtesy.

In the words of the classic Lutheran summary of faith, we believe that we are saved 'by grace, for Christ's sake, through faith'. In other words, there is nothing we can do to earn God's favour or to gain eternal life. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has won all this and more for us. The clear majority of Redeemer staff identify themselves as Christian, with all staff being supportive of the Christian ethos of the College.

No, we do not ask new students to sit an entry test.

All students who are enrolled at the College are however interviewed, which simply gives you an opportunity to meet us, and for us to get to know you and your child, together with any strengths or challenges that your child might have.

Redeemer Lutheran College offers a seamless education from Prep through to Year 12. Redeemer will accept applications at any year level from Prep to Year 12 and offers will be made depending on availability of places and in accordance with our enrolment policy.

By lodging an application, you are expressing an interest in an enrolment at the College. This does not guarantee a place for your child. Demand is high at Redeemer. After an application has been submitted, students are interviewed and considered for enrolment at Redeemer. If a Year level is at capacity, a priority list then occurs, with priority being given to siblings of current students; children of past Redeemer students; Lutherans and practicing Christians. Preference is then given to the order in which applications were received.

Following your interview, you will receive a letter from the College.

Enrolment interviews take place as follows: Prep – The year before entry (kindergarten age); Year 7 – two years before entry (Year 5) or shortly after the application is submitted if the year before entry. All other year levels – as space becomes available and depending on date of entry.

While it is not necessary to place an Application for Enrolment at birth, Redeemer does recommend that you apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Redeemer considers itself as being the perfect size school for your child. While we are not too small, we are also not too big. Your child can enjoy getting to know all students and staff in a warm community environment, yet also enjoy the vast facilities and offerings of those found in a larger school. We currently have approximately 550 students in our Junior School (Prep-Year 6) and 500 in our Senior School (Years 7-12).

The College Policy for class sizes is approximately 25 students in each class from Prep-Year 3, and approximately 28 students in each class from Years 4-6. Core classes in Years 7-12 range in size from approximately 25-29 students per class.

Yes, Redeemer Lutheran College has four Houses which are used for a variety of sporting and cultural activities. Lavarack (red), Mansfield (green), Ramsay (yellow) and Wilson (purple). Children of past students are placed into the same House as their parents.

Yes. Redeemer Lutheran College offers Scholarships for students in Years 7 to 10. All Scholarships are tenable until the end of Year 12.

Yes. Redeemer Lutheran College warmly welcomes international students from Years 7 to 10 (Semester 1 only). Learning together with students from around the world helps us all build an understanding of our global community.

Redeemer provides a wide range of co-curricular activities as an extension of students' educational experiences. Although participation is not compulsory it is strongly recommended. Many opportunities are provided for each individual student so that they can experience success and develop their skills. It is recommended that students engage in at least two co-curricular activities each year. A vast range of activities are offered in the areas of Sport, Music and Cultural activities.

Yes. Redeemer participates in the Greater Brisbane Conference (GBC) school sporting competition. Students in Years 3 – 12 train weekly at the college before and after school with matches played on Saturday mornings against other participating GBC schools. Redeemer Lutheran College has its own dedicated Redeemer Bus Service which now has two bus runs (North-bound and South-bound), covering parts of the following suburbs: Belmont, Calamvale, Carindale, Eight Mile Plains, Macgregor, Mackenzie, Mansfield, Mt Gravatt East, Parkinson, Robertson, Rochedale, Runcorn, Stretton, Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills and Upper Mt Gravatt.

Yes, Redeemer Lutheran College operates a compulsory BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program across the College from Prep to Year 12. The type of device required will vary for Early Years students compared to Senior Years students.

The College still continues to provide the appropriate hardware and software throughout the College to support specialist student learning. As students progress through Redeemer, the complexity and focus naturally increases. There are technological requirements and support for subjects such as Design and Information technologies, multimedia production and scientific inquiry. Yes, students are able to hire an instrument from the College at a small cost for their music tuition. Students who hire a school instrument will be expected to participate fully in the associated ensemble/s for the duration of the hire period.

Yes. Redeemer has a 25 metre heated swimming pool, which is located on our Senior School campus.

All of Redeemer’s teaching spaces across the Junior and Senior Schools are fully air-conditioned. It is a College Council policy that all new buildings constructed will also include air-conditioning.

Yes, Redeemer has an excellent Tuckshop located on site. Junior School parents are able to place orders online from home via a cashless Tuckshop ordering system (MySchoolConnect), while Senior School students enjoy the ability to be able to make cashless tuckshop purchases using their student cards.

All students are able to purchase at both breaks each day. A wide range of healthy food is offered with a special menu for the Junior School.

All students in Years 7-12 are provided with their own individual locker each year, together with a lock issued for the duration of their time at Redeemer. Junior School students from Prep to Year 6 are able to store their school bags on bag racks directly outside of their classrooms.

The College has a policy which outlines guidelines for the approximate amount of homework a student will have each night. As expected, the amount of homework can vary in each year level. Times given should be considered as guidelines due to the variety of tasks that can be set. Families should also clearly discuss the difference between ‘homework’ and ‘study’. Homework will consist of activities and tasks that have been set by a classroom teacher requiring submission by a particular date. Study is a more general process that students should consider for their overall academic growth and progress.

Yes. Redeemer offers an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service to families with enrolled students. The service is programmed primarily for students in Prep to Year 7 (however, is licensed to cater for students of all ages). Before School Care is available from 6.00am until the start of the school day at 8.25am, and After School Care is available from 3.00pm until 6.00pm, with breakfast and afternoon tea being provided. An excellent Vacation Care program is also available every day throughout each of the school holiday periods (and student free days) from 7.00am to 6.00pm (with the exception over the Christmas/New Year period).

Lodge an Online Enrolment Application together with the required application fee. This will place your child’s name on our database for the requested year of entry. All applications are completed online. All applicants will attend an enrolment interview and will be contacted by the college prior to their requested date of entry.
